A lifelong resident of Sault Ste. Marie and firsthand witness of the air pollution produced by Algoma Steel, I do not support the provision of an extension to the company that allows them to continue to emit more than the acceptable limit of benzene, pyrobenzene and particulates. We have an alarmingly high incidence of cancer in Sault Ste Marie and this risk must be strictly mitigated. I also call for a more widespread reach of this consultation in our community.
