There is no rationale (other than human delay tactics) for delaying the release and enforcement of new SSS. The current Site Specific Standards are already above recommended healthy and safety guidelines. Lire davantage

In my opinion the extension should not be granted for the following reasons: 1. Extending the site-specific standard for both particulates and benzene does not follow the regulation’s principle of continuous improvement. Lire davantage

Please do not extend compliance deadlines beyond one year, such as 2021. Industry has known these standards for years or plan and implement. Given the pandemic has disrupted 2020, annexation of one year on the original compliance date is reasonable. Thank you.

An extension will go through as it has for years and it’s not because goals are being met. It’s because money is more important then lives. The lives of Sault Ste. Marie are and will continue to paid for these choices.

First off the ERO number is hidden by writing over it! My best guess is that number is ERO 019-2301. I am concerned about extending the expiry dates of site specific standards for suspended particulate matter and benzene for Algoma Steel. Lire davantage

I whole heartedly disagree with this exemption for the health and wellbeing of local residents. Our region is notorious for high cancer rates that can be directly attributed to the Steel mill in Sault Ste. Marie. Lire davantage

As a lifelong citizen of Sault Ste. Marie, who has recently been diagnosed with cancer at 38 years old, I strongly oppose this extension and feel the citizens of Sault .Ste. Marie deserve better. We deserve a government that holds that The Algoma Steel accountable. Lire davantage

Algoma Steel is asking for an extension to their exemptions from provincial pollution standards when it comes to particulates and benzene -- a known carcinogen. The current Algoma Steel site-specific standard for benzene is five times the provincial benzene standard. Lire davantage

As a citizen of Sault Ste Marie, I do not want to see exceptions like this made for Algoma Steel. They are a for profit company and should have to comply with Ontario health standards. The people of Sault Ste Marie deserve that much. Lire davantage

A lifelong resident of Sault Ste. Marie and firsthand witness of the air pollution produced by Algoma Steel, I do not support the provision of an extension to the company that allows them to continue to emit more than the acceptable limit of benzene, pyrobenzene and particulates. Lire davantage
