Thank you for inviting comments from the public. Mine relates to Schedule 3 of proposed Bill 257.

I wish to state my disagreement with Bill 257 as it appears to give excess authority to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing. While the Schedule would allow the Minister to protect environmentally sensitive features, my worry is that it also gives the Minister the authority to agree to damaging construction in areas such as wetlands or forests. I do not believe such authority is ultimately in the interests either of citizens or the creatures dwelling in or visiting "wild" areas. I am particularly concerned by the words that the Minister would have the authority to "control the use of any land in the province."

I hope that there will be sufficient negative public reaction to Schedule 3 for it to be withdrawn from consideration.
