There needs to be more charging stations throughout the province. Instead of subsidizing private, individual use charging stations, those funds should be put towards public infrastructure or infrastructure accessible to more than a small number of individuals. Part of the hesitation around owning an EV is that a charging station is not available where I am going and if I want to take an EV to travel the province, how will I ensure my vehicle is powered through the duration of the trip? Having confidence that charging stations are available even in small communities would enable tourism into those communities.

In addition, there are insufficient charging stations in downtown Toronto -- especially for condo dwellers such as myself. Within the condo, the management board has little incentive to create a charging station or repurpose space for a charging station for its residents and even members of the public to use. All they are currently obligated to do is "take a serious look at the idea" but there is no push or incentive to actually setting one up. Charging stations on streets are nice but there is a parking issue for residents on that street. Could gas stations be incentivized to setup charging stations on their properties or could individual home owners be incentivized to setup charging stations on their properties that members of the public could access and use (for a fee).

Further, car-share companies should be obligated to have a portion of their fleet as EV and perhaps could also then be required to fund charging stations that would be used (not only for their own fleet) but for other EVs as well.

Lastly, there needs to be heavy fines and enforcement (perhaps done by the public itself) of non-EVs taking up spots designated for EVs. We should empower the public to take pictures of vehicles and their license plates in these designated spots (perhaps using a government approved app) and have the fine mailed to the vehicle owner directly -- we would not need additional police for this type of enforcement.
