We do NOT need to expand the sprawl of our cities. The greenbelt and all greenfield should be protected, not only for environmental reasons, but also for simple economics. The cost of expanding out instead of up is multiples more expensive. We have more than sufficient space within the existing urban boundaries of cities in the GTA to fit population growth for the next 20 years, many times over. Toronto's population density is 20% that of Paris. We will be paying for this mistake for hundreds of years.
