Re: Rondeau Cottages
Dear Mr. Grcyk
Chatham Kent, bordering Rondeau Park, has the lowest amount of tree cover in Southern Ontario.
In order to maintain and/or increase forest cover in the region, it is imperative lands that offer protection be maximized to its utmost potential. Unfortunately, such actions require the removal of the Rondeau Cottages.
The tree cover is a hot topic in Chatham Kent and media sources report a local solution has not materialized. The province can initiate a solution by increasing forest cover within Rondeau Park, with the removal of cottages and allowing the land to rejuvenate naturally.
It is also noted that the Municipality of Chatham has in the recent past received a petition inclusive of 5000 signatures in favour and support of forestry iniatives/protecting forest, and in turn, would logically support forestry initiative's within Rondeau.
As a longtime paying customer of both Rondeau and the Provincial Parks, I am not interested in paying to drive through a subdivision of the few, whom are blocking the view.....but rather natural environments, scenic areas etc.
Anyone that is interested in owning a cottage in the Province of Ontario, has ample opportunity outside of Rondeau, where they can own the land, and not have the ongoing worry of lease extensions.
It is also a "make work project" for the Province of Ontario to continue the ongoing insanity of the lease extension debate, year after year, with the only absolute solution of cottage removal.
Thank You.
