I feel that the City of Pickering Central Plan is a document that builds the city in a sustainable manner. There are already hundreds on new homes under construction in the area that is covered by the plan. The City of Pickering is already experiencing a fundamental shift in the city with dozens of new towers being built in the south area, area that should be densified. The plan to get rid of the planning document to build more houses in farmer's fields destroys the natural beauty and degrades the importance of the neighbouring national urban park. Building homes is not the same as building communities with services, walkability, transit and other amenities, all of which will be ignored by revoking the central plan. The area where homes could be built are not designed to support more homes, and developers are not going to pay the costs to extend servicing that much further. There are better places to build more homes and the Central Plan will accomplish building more homes while balancing environmental impacts.
