Doug Ford and Minister Clark have overstepped. Your goal is noble to make housing more affordable, but we can do that by increasing density within city boundaries. The loss of our farmland will cement your legacy as a premier with good intentions but simple ideas that do not reflect reality. Particularly in the city of Hamilton the city did a referendum on this issue and determined we did not want to expand our urban boundary. To override this is undemocratic and particularly concerning is that Minister Clark said he would override decisions he did not like.
Democracy is for the people and the people have spoken, particularly concerning was the 77 irreversible amendments you made to the City of Hamilton official plan including the section on site contamination and cleanup.
Have you lose your minds? Industrial contamination must be cleaned up before any development takes place. I would expect these decisions in China, not Canada. Insidious compounds like benzene do not go away and will poison people for generations unless properly remediated, not to mention asbestos and fuel oil compounds. How can you override this with a straight face?
Developers funded your campaign but the people voted for you, have some respect for yourself and the province and do not let wealthy developers run this province.
Do whats right.
