I feel this is absolutely devastating.
My husband and I saved for many many years to be able to afford our beautiful Heritage home (123 years old).
Our neighbourhood is one of the oldest in Barrie Ontario, we love where we live. We purchased 3 years ago, because our neighbourhood is old, there are also many beautiful old trees, another reason why we choose to buy where we did.
Unfortunately over the last year many of those gorgeous old trees have been taken down for "garden suites" to be built in backyards.

So now our neighbourhood is less treed and more populated, we no longer have large private backyards, we have "garden suits" feet away from our fence line, that are rented out for very high price points (so not at all helping with the need for low income rental units).

Bill 23 will allow additional garden suites and driveway homes to be built- this is an absolute crime. We purchased in our very old and private neighbourhood, because we didn't want to live in a subdivision, where homes are extremely close together with very little privacy.

Our home is our dream home, we planed to stay forever, unfortunately I am getting more and more upset weekly with all of the construction of these "garden suites" going up. I'm no longer picturing us in this home forever.
