Sir

I bought my cottage in Rondeau in 2005 and it became a big part of our lives as we raised two boys there. The community has an amazing history and we love all the friends and neighbours we met over these many years. The fellowship that exists at Rondeau is something this world sorely needs right now! We embraced the idea of caring for the environment and making sure that Rondeau is well cared for so that all could enjoy the park not only now but for all eternity. The cottagers are the stewards of the park because unlike day campers we are there all the time. Parks are for people too! We take pride in preserving all that mother nature provides at Rondeau. All that we have been asking for since my family arrived in the park is to continue the valued experience of the cottage that was built in 1936 and the community that surrounds it for the rest of our lives including my sons and their families.
The manner in which the bureaucrats have treated the cottagers is deplorable and how they look themselves in the mirror everyday I can't understand. Their agenda is NOT the one that matters, there is a plan that if implemented, everyone wins, the people of Ontario, the people of Chatham-Kent, the environment and finally the cottagers. Minister Jeff Yurek committed to the plan to be implemented and the staff at Ontario Parks ignored it, they ignored the direction of an ELECTED official. Disgraceful! To be clear, Minister Yurek’s commitment was not contingent on the approval of anyone working under him. He repeatedly made it clear that this lot sale was official government policy that could not be rescinded. He set the timeline for completion at six months. It has now been more than three years and nothing has been done. What is the hold up? The Minister’s commitment to Chatham-Kent was/is clear.
In short the only solution is Section 9(3) Provincial Parks and Conservation Act(2006) as directed by Minister Yurek.
GET IT DONE!
