As the son of a cottaging parents, and now maintainer of their 64 year old boat access property on Go Home Lake, I am vehemently against any type of floating accommodations being permitted on the shores of our lakes. Property taxes, upkeep and utility costs continually increase but it's all worth it given the pleasure we derive from our small lakeside cottage. I can only imagine the issues we'd experience if we add just 5 of these mobile homes onto our shores. Even if these dwellings were to pay taxes the visual blight, noise and impact to the lake would be significant. Some of the campers that set up elaborate tents/structures have their impact, but this would be far more consequential. Each lake within cottage country was carefully planned to ensure that the number of lots could be sustained and that there weren't too many cottagers or campers for its size. Let's looks to preserve that, and the environment, and not cater to the whims of those that look to take something for free or profit from short term rentals within our unique Canadian paradise.
