There is some merit to the limitation of time spent at various anchorages, as there are some that do abuse the privileges that we enjoy. However, the suggestion of a 300metre exclusion area around “developed” coast is complete over reach!
Cottagers don’t, and never have done, own the water their property borders, or the “land” underneath. Most boaters do not want to anchor anywhere near a property but there are many anchorages (particularly in Southern Georgian Bay) that are public places that all should have the ability to enjoy, not just the wealthy cottage owner that happened to be able to afford the cottage that abuts those areas. This 300 metre exclusion area would prevent people anchoring in many popular anchorages and completely goes against riparian rights
