My family and I have been…

My family and I have been boating on the Great Lakes for over 40 years now. We have enjoyed the wonderful natural beauty of our area and like to explore every year on our boat. I have concerns about the shoreline distancing from structures proposals being considered. As anyone who has experience on Georgian Bay knows, when seeking a good sheltered anchorage for a boat, you need protection from wind and waves . Quite often there is some kind of building or habitat in or close by to the safe anchorage spot. If the proposed amendments, were to preclude a safe anchorage and put a vessel into a hazardous situation, with danger to the lives of the occupants , and the vessel, it would be a negative and dangerous law to the safe navigation of vessels in our whole province as well as the whole country.
Please reconsider this portion of the proposal.

As far as the effects of pollution, I support this aspect. As you know the entire Great Lakes and inland waterways are a "no discharge zone", meaning that all toilet discharge is kept in storage tanks on the vessel, to be pumped out at a designated pump out station. All Grey water on a cruising boat is kept to a minimum as we carry most of our fresh water in tanks onboard. So conservation is a mandate.

I can understand the concerns about "Float Homes" and any type of vessel that is predominantly long time anchored in one spot. But please do not include "Cruising sailboats and Power vessels" into the same category as the rest of them. We are boats for touring, and are usually in our home port or marina most of the time when not out exploring or enjoying our beautiful waters.
