I don't think people should be able to just fill in ponds and drain wetlands willy nilly. Someone should check the wildlife for endangered species and nesting birds before they can fill it in---if they even should. For the sake of a few dollars they are destroying animals homes. Perhaps some tax credits to cover their losses would be helpful. Maybe a go fundme in exchange for leaving the habitat alone. Like prime agricultural land, once a wetland/pond is gone, it's gone forever.
