I am completely in agreement with bringing back previously exempted Greenbelt lands into the protected Greenbelt. Bring the legislation with no weasel escape clauses ASAP!!!! Once you remove prime agriculral land and environmentally sensitive lands, they are gone for good. We need both as the provincial population surges and climate change is upon us, increasing demand for food. Can't rely increasingly on importing food from other countries to keep us fed. The Greenbelt lands are also, and will be, the "lungs" of the GTHA.
As far as retaining the 9000 odd acres that were "compensating" add-ons, that scam was mostly smoke and mirrors as the vast majority was already protected by other means. Ontarians learned a long time ago as far back as Hurricane Hazel that hazard lands associated with floodplains and valley lands are, and should be, protected from development in perpetuity.
