Doug Ford's presumption that 'people don't care' about the redesignation of land to the greenbelt is further evidence that this bill is needed to protect and restore our natural and public spaces. Many Ontarians aren't aware of the existence of the ERO unless they are heavily involved in environmentalism. Importantly, support from the larger public is unanimous no matter how the government wants them specifically to participate. All laws/bills must be made explicitly public, accessibly transparent, and windows for comment from the larger public should be large and wide reaching enough that any and all Canadians can have a say in their spaces.
