We are grateful to the people who originally had the vision to create the Greenbelt Plan. Their foresight was truly profound. Green spaces that are the lungs of Southern Ontario, home to wildlife, agriculture, rivers, springs and wetlands, were to be protected and enjoyed.
Our family lives in the Greenbelt and we see the encroachment of gravel pits, and urban sprawl creeping closer and closer. These lands are precious and historically significant ancestral lands to the Indigenous People who entered into Treaties to share and protect the land. We must think about future generations in all decisions to ensure they have air they can breathe and water they can drink…forever.
