To Whom It May Concern:
My parents bought property at 60 Book Road W, Ancaster back in 1978, with 56 acres. They have since passed away and the property belongs to 5 siblings. Our property & surrounding lands were incorrectly placed into the Greenbelt in 2016 by Hamilton City Council against the will of landowners and therefore devalued our properties. Placing these lands back into the Greenbelt denies us the right to fair values of all properties. We are therefore, asking to leave these lands out of the Greenbelt.
This should be noted: A comprehensive study was provided by Dillon Consulting firm hired by the City (2015) recommended NOT to include these lands into the Greenbelt. However, Lloyd Ferguson, Councillor for Ancaster at the time, convinced other city councillors; Steve Robichaud (Planning Committee) to support him as well as the Liberal MPP at the time, Ted McMeekin, that the Book Road West lands be added to the Greenbelt. We were helpless to stop this attack on our private property rights. We therefore request that you conduct a formal inquiry into how our lands were put into the Greenbelt in 2016. Please check the March 29/21, City of Hamilton Open House Planning Committee Meeting video and you will observe Lloyd Ferguson and Steve Robichaud laughing about how Lloyd was instrumental at putting our lands into the Greenbelt. This truly needs to be investigated as it was no laughing matter to the landowners when our lands were practically worthless when placed into the Greenbelt in 2016 and would be an injustice for this to happen again.
