This proposal is for amendment to the existing Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) No. 8603-DD8S8N serving Walker Aggregates Inc. for the Ridgemount Quarry located in Fort Erie, Ontario.
The majority of pumped sump water is discharged to Frenchman's Creek in accordance with the ECA No. 8603-DD8S8N. The ECA also permits the operation of a closed-loop aggregate wash plant on the site.
This ECA amendment is being requested to change the wash plant pond locations on-site. This requires a change to the description of the sewage works outlined the existing ECA No. 8603-DD8S8N. The wash plant ponds will be constructed at natural grade, within the undisturbed portion of the South Quarry. The proposed pond location is within the future extraction area, and, therefore, it is expected that the ponds will be decommissioned and relocated to the quarry floor, in the future.
