This proposal is a wolf in sheep's clothing. It disguises industrial freedom to destroy as a "increased oversight" and "efficiency". For a proposal like this to even get this far into our policy process is disgusting.

STOP. JUST STOP. Before its too late for any life on earth. Profits are NOT EVERYTHING. How can you look in the mirror or sleep at night when all you care about is money? Be an honorable human, and STOP. Do not allow companies to kill endangered species for a fine. Its INSANITY.
This is a stupid proposal. The ESA can not be weakened and the Minister should not have the ability to over ride science-based recommendations. This would put another species at risk, The Ontario P.C.s.
Protecting biodiversity is becoming increasingly important in an era of climate change. With changes in climate such as climate warming, we are at risk of losing species forever. Biodiversity in Ontario is vital to all people living in Ontario.

Please please on behalf of all Ontarians, reconsider this change. It is allowing businesses who can pay to destroy habitats. Businesses and subdivisions and casinos can be built elsewhere. Why are we giving the rich an opportunity to destroy habitat. I am ashamed that this is even an issue.

I oppose the proposed changes to Ontario's Endangered Species Act. Specifically, I am vehemently against the following:
- Allowing developers to pay fee to break the law
- No longer protecting species common outside of Ontario

I can not for any reason support this proposal. It will cause the extinctions of several species in Ontario that are barely holding on as is. In the face of our deteriorating environment, we need more protections not less.

The proposed scheme to allow developers to evade their responsibilities under the Endangered Species Act is incredibly irresponsible and disappointing.

It all really boils down to this. The changes would put the "Minister" in charge of making all decisions on the survival of a species endangered or not, without having to focus on the science. This is incredibly dangerous. Once a species is gone, it's gone. There are no "do overs" in nature.

I am encouraged to see the government is opening up participation and introducing some flexibility. However, I believe there could still be greater transparency in providing specific details on the criteria that led to the species being declared Endangered or Threatened.

A very reasonable reformation of the ESA! As an environmental consultant, it is currently very difficult assisting clients through the ESA permitting process; a very uncertain process in terms of time and monetary cost.
