These are both terrible ideas and I am completely opposed. The Minister needs to stay out of local planning decisions, not have even more power. The Ford government has been using MZOs completely irresponsibly and these changes lend themselves to further abuses of power.
This is a recipe for corrupt behaviour. Do not let this go through, Toronto and Ontario need better considered planning not less! My family and I are very disappointed by what’s going on with the foundry for example.

Municipalities and communities should have authority and be consulted in these processes. The Province should not be making unilateral decisions against city planning and without community input.

This amendment does not mention any kind of plan for densifying already existing infrastructure. It also does not protect local authorities/governments from heavy handed decisions made by the provincial government. This gives the province far too much control in non-emergency situations.

This is an outrageous amendment that is designed to give the minister extra powers over and above the legislation despite the rules or the will of the people. This is ant- Democratic and self-serving. Make no mistake the voters will not forget this corruption at the next election.
The Government of Ontario (2018-2022) was not elected to override local democracy and destroy heritage sites. If Premier Ford wanted to shape Toronto is this way, he should have stayed in Municipal Politics.

Having just become one of over 15,000 signatories objecting to the demolition of the Dominium Foundries heritage property at 153-185 Eastern Avenue, it should be fairly obvious that I, and thousands of others, object to the destruction of our heritage without planning or public consultation.
The proposed change is a dangerous precedent that further erodes municipal power and undermines the intent and purpose of the official plan and zoning by-law. It also undermines the ability for proper public input.

It appears that these changes will enhance the implementation of a MZO.
It is important the housing needs of many need to be addressed with inclusionary zoning provision.
