The SEZ Act as proposed is unacceptable. Enabling the Premier and cabinet to suspend the laws of the land, found in the form of provincial regulations and municipal bylaws, at will and behind closed doors runs counter to my understanding of democracy. Lire davantage

This bill is regressive and harmful to the environment, making it easier to destroy critical habitats for endangered species, removes environmental rights, and does not respect Indigenous rights and concerns. Lire davantage

I do not support Bill 5 and request that it be stopped for the following reasons: 1. We need to protect our endangered species not further their endangerment and extinction with this bill. 2. This bill does not recognize the rights of our indigenous peoples and their communities. Lire davantage

I am writing to express deep concern about the conservative government's continued efforts to dismantle Ontario's environmental safeguards. Fast-tracking major infrastructure projects without proper environmental assessments or Indigenous consultation is irresponsible and dangerous. Lire davantage

The Endangered Species Act should not be replaced or altered in way, shape, or form. Species such as the Monarch Butterfly depend on it to ensure its continued survival. Ecosystems are just as important as increasing the availability of housing. Lire davantage

There is a risk that Special Economic Zones will unleash chaotic development in Ontario with little or no regard to environmental protections. Bill 5 gives the Premier and Cabinet unprecedented powers over communities. Lire davantage

There is no economy without a healthy protected environment. As a tax payer and resident of Ontario and I am opposed to all legislation that supersedes environmental protection. Business owners cannot make these kind of decisions. NO to SPECIAL ECONOMIC ZONES ACT 2025 Lire davantage

I oppose bill 5, as should we all. This is not the way to advance our economy and only furthers our decline. We need new innovative ways to expand on the strengths we currently have as a province. We need to build upward and not outward, we need to better utilize the space we have. Lire davantage

I’m very concerned about Bill 5 (Special Economic Zones Act, 2025). This bill would give the Premier and Cabinet too much power to approve projects without following normal laws or getting public input. Lire davantage

As an OPSEU/SEFPO member, I'm disgusted at this attack on public services including all of the environmental and regulatory inspectors with the OPS. The Species At Risk Act is a critical regulation that should not be messed with.

This act is blatantly corrupt, and sacrifices any rules/regulations so you can sell land to your favourite developers fast with zero due process. You mention ‘simplifying rules’ with such nonchalance— rules are there for a reason. Lire davantage

This bill lacks any scientific foundation. It goes against everything we know about the ecology of sensitive species and will surely lead to untold biodiversity loss. Economic development must happen in concert with environmental protections; anything else is short sighted and unsustainable. Lire davantage

I am sickened by Doug Ford's Bill 5. The environment must be protected. Our future depends on bi-diversity, clean air, abundant fresh water, wet lands and good arable soil. Climate change demands it. Stop Bill 5!! Lire davantage

I am commenting here on the entirety of Bill 5: the "protect Ontario by unleashing our economy Act". The very title is alarming. To unleash something is to abandon control of something powerful - and to make decisions based purely on economic metrics is fool's gold. Lire davantage
