I'm commenting to express my strong opposition to the sections of the 2025 budget bill that would overhaul Ontario’s conservation authorities by consolidating 36 local agencies into seven and placing them under a new provincial agency. Lire davantage

Stop destroying our wet lands for corporate profits. We need these lands for water run off & retention. Don’t do this. For the sake of a future for humanity.

The new proposed conservation authorities jurisdictions are too broad and cannot adequately serve their locations. This is a very poor idea. Authorities need to be more localized to serve their communities.

This has to be one of the stupidest ideas of centralizing control, it completely destroys the ability to solve problems in a watershed. Lire davantage

I live within the LRCA region and feel the consolidated regions will not service our community as effectively as the current system. I believe localized experts and services will better protect the interests of the environment. Kindly, Sarah Lire davantage

I’m strongly against condensing our conversation areas! The areas are too large and people in different communities don’t actually know what other communities need! Plus keep local jobs in local communities

Each watershed and ecosystem is unique and should be managed appropriately, by the people who have the knowledge. What knowledge does the government have in management aside from potential budgets and written policies really. Lire davantage

Conservation authorities were established to protect people and the environment, addressing local needs with local expertise. The proposed amalgamation would remove decision-making power from local experts, creating a disconnect between decision-makers and the communities they serve. Lire davantage

I interact with our CA several times a year and know most of the workers personally. They have helped restore native habitat on my property and others around me. They are instrumental in protecting this fragile Carolinian zone that we are in. Lire davantage

Terrible idea to have our local boundaries be included in areas of southern Ontario and to have critical decisions made there instead of here. I’m hoping the Government of Ontario will reconsider and keep everything about our LRCA local.
