My family and I, along with our little one, live on Craven Road, a neighborhood filled with families from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds, many with young children. We've all recently learned about the new proposal under the "More Homes Built Faster Act" and what it could mean for our community.
While I fully understand the urgency of addressing the housing crisis, it's crucial that we don't rush forward without carefully considering where and how we build. Removing essential safeguards without thorough evaluation could lead to long-term issues.
The proposal would allow construction and increased access on Craven Road, a street that is already overburdened and too narrow to safely accommodate additional traffic. This road is often used as a relief route from Coxwell Avenue, with drivers already speeding through in an agitated state. The influx of more vehicles would only exacerbate these safety concerns, especially in a neighborhood where children are growing up.
Additionally, the construction of much larger homes compared to the existing ones would dramatically alter the landscape, placing even more strain on both the road and the current residents.
For these reasons, my family and I strongly oppose the Craven Road ARU – Regulation 299/19.
I hope this message reaches the appropriate decision-makers.
Thank you.
