Bill 4, Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018 is likely the worst decision Ontario could ever make. A government's role is to lead in matters of human welfare that the general public cannot address on its own. Climate change is the most serious issue of our time, and recent history has demonstrated that climate change absolutely cannot be addressed with the deliberate foot-dragging and spin that comes with purposely ineffective, nebulous climate change strategies and plans. Ontario's Cap and Trade program is a world class, leading edge solution for driving the significant change that is needed if the planet is to avoid catastrophic climate change. It imposes an actual cap on emissions, and the funds do not go to general revenues, but rather into the specific actions required to both mitigate and adapt to climate change. Please rethink your approach, if you truly care for Ontarians and the fate of our collective planet.
