I am very opposed to the Special
Economics Zones Act. It allows the Cabinet to create zones where any kind of project
can be designated and exempted from any provincial law. There is no legislative
oversight and even Provincial Parks are not excluded. Any place in Ontario can become
a special economic zone. Even the Greenbelt and Oak Ridges Moraine are not safe. It
undermines the Democratic process and the rights of the First Nations are not being
considered.
