Schedule 9 goes against every democratic principle our country has ever tried to adhere to. By giving the elected legislature’s power to determine what laws govern Ontario to the premier and his chosen cabinet they can then apply different laws (or no laws) to different people for any reason. This is unconstitutional!
As well, we are supposed to be reconciling with First Nations, not bypassing them completely on decisions impact them directly. and to unrestricted discretion over the criteria to that premier and his cabinet.
The land of Ontario does not belong to Doug Ford and his cabinet, it belongs to everyone here. That is why there is a duty to consult the public. That is why public participation is legislated under the Environmental Bill of Rights, 1993 and it is absolutely wrong to abandon it.
I object vehemently to this Schedule.
