Municipalities care about…

Municipalities care about what is built in their area because they live there along with their neighbours. They have skin in the game. They also know all too well that their kids have trouble leaving the nest because of the under supply of housing. Fortunately a way to make GOOD housing projects get approved faster was thought up and passed, the Green Development Standard brought the regulations together to make it simpler (and therefore faster) to meet them and it’s working! (this is where we thought we would hear you cheer):

“Based on the Ontario municipalities benchmarked by the Canadian Home
Builders' Association (CHBA), all of the cities with a GDS have made progress in accelerating approval timelines, while all of the cities without a GDS have seen timelines get slower.“

Support the CHBA, municipalities and get behind GDS, we need more of their good work.
Bill 5 has to be tamed. We don’t want any more inappropriate, unwanted housing units destroying vulnerable environments just so someone’s buddies can rake in their take.
