I DO NOT want the Town of Wasaga Beach to take over any part of the beach that is controlled by the Ontario Parks Dept. as this will only raise property taxes.
I do think the Ontario Government DOES NOT keep the park facilities in good condition, i.e.
1 - Park picnic tables are in bad shape
2 - Every washroom should be replaced as they also are in
very bad condition and very old.
3 - The washroom on the east side of the Spruce St parking lot
has a very dangerous condition for the men's entry door; it
is extreamly difficult to open due to a large exhast fan
sucking the air out. A young boy can get stuck inside due
to not being heavy enough to push it open. You need to
see this to believe me. I'm 180 pounds and I have a hard
time.
4 - The raking of the beach that the Parks Dept does is usless
because it doesn't pick up any small stuff, it just drags
everything along until it turns around. You need the
machine like Ashbridges Bay in Toronto have or had. I did
see it on CTV news several years ago. Florida has one like
it called Sandman I think.
5 - The beach edge is disgusting due to the sludge-like muck
coming from the mouth of the river. The Parks Dept
should find a way to stop or clean it up weekly.
I'm a 29 year resident of Wasaga Beach.
