As a resident of Wasaga…

As a resident of Wasaga Beach I am disappointed that the province is selling our biggest asset to the town as the beach is what we are known for! The province should continue to manage these lands and protect the precious dunes/plover habitat and leave it all as natural as possible for generations to come vs allowing the town to assume ownership of these beach areas and likely develop the land at the hand of greedy developers while lining their own pockets. We are a small town community and do not have the infrastructure to support more development especially in the areas of provincial park area 1 & 2, Allenwood and New Wasaga and MUST leave it as a public area for all to enjoy. I am disheartened already with the development that is happening on our beach front already as this will cause mayhem and crowding and change our beach town forever. It is a public beach and provides public parking and building hotels and condos is turning our town into private lands thereby forcing tourism to leave the area—-it is upsetting to see that the current concepts have no regard for what has put us on the map and only benefits those who buy a condo etc…again this town can not support any more buildings at the beach front as there is one road in and out of the area and already as it stands traffic is at a standstill on most summer weekends. I DO want to see Nancy Island revitalized and restored to its former glory and used as a tourist attraction to teach about our history and be used once again as a school field trip option to learn about its importance but I DON’T AGREE w allowing the town to take over beach 1 and 2 and Allenwood and New Wasaga. It must stay within the provinces jurisdiction just as it always has been and the province needs to protect these vulnerable areas of great beauty for generations to come!!!!!
