As an Ontario citizen, I completely oppose this proposed legislative amendment to sell off sections of Wasaga Beach Ontario Provincial Park to eventually enable developers to take possession of these properties. We should be INCREASING protected natural areas such as Provincial Parks, not destroying them. This legislation will open the door to other Provincial Parks and "crown lands" (many under Indigenous treaty rights) to be sold off (cheaply?) to the bidder who is closest to our Premier, it would seem. I say NO to any development (housing, highways or mining!) on natural lands such as Provincial Parks, the Green Belt, Ontario Place, and wilderness "crown lands". I insist on rigorous Environmental Assessment and Indigenous Consent for any development proposal. Housing and commercial development should occur within existing urban or town boundaries. Does the town of Wasaga Beach think that people will want to come there because there are more townhouses and commercial buildings on the water? No. People want to come to Wasaga Beach for the natural beach that exists on the town's waterfront. People want natural areas such as Provincial Parks to be increased and protected.
