Doug Ford is once again…

Commentaire

Doug Ford is once again putting the interests of wealthy, well-connected developers ahead of the public good, and this time, it’s coming at the cost of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park and the endangered Piping Plover.
This isn’t just a summer hotspot, it’s one of the last remaining nesting grounds for these fragile shorebirds, who’ve only recently begun to recover after years of protection and stewardship.
Selling off parts of this provincial park for development, especially to those with political ties to the Premier, is a betrayal of public trust. This move follows the weakening of the Endangered Species Act under Bill 5 and sets a dangerous precedent for all of Ontario’s protected areas.
This is not just bad environmental policy, it raises serious concerns about conflicts of interest. There must be independent oversight and transparency in any decisions involving the sale or development of public land, particularly when those lands are being handed to developers with personal or financial ties to the Premier or his government.
Ontarians deserve to know: Who benefits? Who profits? And who loses?
I strongly oppose the proposed changes and urge the government to halt any plans to sell portions of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. Protect the Piping Plovers. Protect our parks. And protect democracy from private interests.
