Wasaga Beach is one of many examples of a natural wonder here in Ontario and any development to encourage tourism (though I would note this beach is already one of the most visited in the province) should be done in the spirit of preserving and respecting the local population's values and desires for the character of their home.
As an avid birder I love this area for the opportunity to see Piping Plovers and I feel a big part of the charm is the small town essence of the existing developments.
Please ensure that our local conservation authority is kept in consultation and listen to their reccomendations.
Please consult with local indigenous groups at every phase of the development process and take their recommendations to heart.
Protect wetlands that support the strong foundations of any vibrant waterside ecosystem and respecting the nesting windows for birds and bats so that no harm is done during the sensitive times of year when they are looking after their babies.
