You actually believe boosting tourism and driving economic growth will contribute to protecting the area's natural environment? Nah, it will destroy it. Human behaviour has proven that for millenniums.
You need not look far to see this happening to "natural areas" everywhere.
When the final goal is to make yet more money, natural areas will always lose. Climate change is excellent proof of this.
