I stand against the amendments in legislature of Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act. In a rapidly changing climate we need to slow down on expansions and development, especially with the currently protected lands.
What is safe from the hands of those seeking to line their own pockets in the name of "Tourism attraction" or "improving Ontario"? I don't believe these people care about our communities at all if instead of improving the current state of things, they're seeking to disrupt protected biomes in the name of expansion.
We live in a world where the cost of living is unreasonable for a large majority of our people and still on the rise. The idea of travelling and tourism gets lower on the list of needs every single day. The other side of that is our climate is also concerningly on the rise. We need to protect our forests, land and water and turn our efforts of expansion to sustainability. That money could be used to develop things that would benefit the people of Ontario; affordable housing, walkable communities, public gardens to cut some food insecurity etc.
Unfortunately, some people would rather treat Ontario like a car on its last few kilometers; with absolutely no regard for its value, no desire to put effort into maintaining it and just selling off whatever parts they can to make a few quick dollars. It's devastating being lead by that mentality.
