As a resident of Wasaga Beach, I do not support the proposed amendment.

Designated Provincial Parks are supposed to be a public space available to anyone to enjoy, not to be siphoned off to municipalities for development. With Wasaga Beach being the longest freshwater beach, this amendment would be a disservice to the residents and visitors who come to Wasaga Beach to enjoy the many park spaces that abut the beach.

In addition, Wasaga Beach is undergoing a significant amount of development that is removing many local species habitat and the further removal of Provincially Protected Parks would further impact this. Wasaga Beach is home to the Piping Plovers which are an endangered species and disruption to their breeding ground will already be impacted by the Town's re-development of the beachfront. To further disturb an already endangered species would be an irresponsible decision.

I urge the Province to maintain control of Nancy Island and the Provincial Parks around Wasaga Beach in order to ensure that the integrity of the beach and the surrounding habitats are maintained as public spaces aimed to preserve our history and the habitats of endangered species.
