NO to any further building on park lands. Just NO.
Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is the REASON people enjoy the microclimate that is Wasaga Beach!
If you allow further disruption to the biome, you will knowingly destroy piping plover habitat, endangered turtle habitat, countless beach grasses and their cleansing effects on the lake. There are so many abandoned inland properties to develop, it is unnecessary to pave Paradise.
Building on beach and swamp land is stupid folly, and benefits only a few very rich people, who do not shop locally.
Everyone knows that the poor and middle class are much more generous spenders, especially on holidays and special events.
And sending advertisements to Indigenous communities is not appropriate consultation under the law and the concept of Reconciliation. Indigenous communities, through their leadership, have a right to an equal say in what happens. This is a special relationship that needs to be honoured by provincial and municipal decision-makers.
There should be no shifting of responsibility from one provincial department to any other jurisdiction unless there is an equal voice for Indigenous communities in those jurisdictions.
In the past, cultures created TEMPORARY pagodas, cabins, and summer tent structures on the beach so everyone could 'live' there and enjoy the environment. Such temporary structures would reach more people, if you're really interested in tourism.
STOP developing in Provincial Parks--leave our wild spaces intact and free!
