Please do not sell off parts of Wasaga Beach for development. Wasaga Beach beauty is derived from its waters, wildlife, and greenery.
Development of Wasaga Beach would risk not only biodiversity, endanger species, habitat, and also our waters. We are already have alarming concerns on increase of perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) or wildly known as toxic forever chemicals. in the Great Lakes and microplastics. Development of Wasaga Beach would only further these problems, increasing the risk of lowering fish populations and put lives of local residence and any tourist who visits in jeopardy. This damages is irreversible.
This is not the direction the city should take for short term economic benefits, because development does not taken into consideration of direct cost of pollution (water, plastic, air quality and noise), and indirect cost of reducing quality of life that draws tourist in the first place, decrease in property value as more conservation areas are open to development.
Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Conservation Acts are made to protect all lives, give us sustainable resources and encourage careful stewardship. I urge the counsel not to develop Wasaga Beach.
