After reading the proposal to remove Nancy Island and some of Wasaga’s beaches from the protection of the provincial parks and conservation reserves, I’m concerned about the impacts to the endangered piping plover’s nesting grounds. Increasing human activity in one of Ontario’s last remaining nesting areas for this species would be devastating for them. Our provincial parks are not for sale, extinction is not a price we should be willing to pay for tourism.
