I strongly disagree with the removal of any lands from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. The purpose of the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act The purpose "is to permanently protect a system of provincial parks and conservation reserves that are representative of all Ontario’s natural regions." Any removal of lands from the provincial park negates the purpose of the act to permanently protect the park. Ontario Provincial Parks are critical natural spaces accessible to all Ontarians in an ever-dwindling natural landscape. More than ever, Ontario Parks are key destinations for Ontarians looking for vacations, and are very often oversubscribed. Furthermore the parks protect vulnerable species and maintain needed biodiversity. Transferring of any lands, especially with no guarantee of continued protection against development, directly contravenes the act and breaks the promise made by the act to the people on Ontario.
