I was astounded to hear of the proposal to remove 60% of Wasaga Beach Provincial Park from protected park status and turn it over to commercial development by the city of Wasaga Beach.

The Wasaga Beach Provincial park serves a critical role protecting the beautiful natural beaches of Georgian Bay and Wasaga that my family and I have enjoyed for decades. The park has protected its native species and natural features for all to enjoy for many generations. It is one of the most visited Provincial Parks in Ontario and generates critical funds to maintain other Provincial Parks. It is a true gem of Ontario and this proposal opens it up for development and exploitation damaging it's irreplaceable beauty. This transfer of assets must be stopped due to the damage it will cause.

The government's ongoing efforts selling public treasures and public spaces to commercial interests is unfathomable and this proposal continues the the sad story started by efforts to sell the Greenbelt, closing the Science Center for commercial development, selling Ontario Place to a private entity. It further continues previous efforts selling the 407 and closing the Planetarium. These efforts are literally stealing the legacy that belongs to my kids and is unconscionable for the government to be party to.

Please take the public interest to heart and stop this development proposal.
