I do not agree with the Ontario government's decision to remove 148 acres of waterfront property from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park. As I am writing this, I am stuck inside due to unsafe air quality caused by climate change. Our government should be protecting this area (in addition to all provincial parks) and not selling it to their buddies for development. We need to preserve provincial park areas to help prevent further difficulties caused by climate change in the future. This decision is short sighted and will have lasting impacts for generations to come. The Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is an ecologically sensitive area with a provincially recognized endangered species (the piping plover), which will be greatly devastated by any plans for development. I do not believe that protections will stay in place for the endangered species if this area is sold to developers. The government needs to stand by protecting provincial parks and reverse their decision on Wasaga Beach Provincial Park.
