There is a reason why provincial and federal parks exist. These parks are for the public, for the citizens to enjoy and to have access to beautiful natural areas in each provinces. These parks do not have free access. So the cost citizens pay for their entry and their stay is for the maintenance of the parks AND the enjoyment of natural ecosystems. These parks are essential to maintaining equitable access to natural areas and for the conservation of our environment. Therefore, provincial parks must be kept for protection of the fauna and flora of our lands and especially for every citizen to access. So they should not be sold to the few who can afford wonderful properties in idyllic lands.
Keep all provincial parks AND grow them.
I would like to suggest you study the provincial parks organisation in Québec, the SÉPAC (Société des établissements de plein air du Québec) where the land is accessible in many ways and almost self-paid.
"EVERY VISIT COUNTS
Almost 80% of the funding for Sépaq's network comes from the revenue generated by visitors. All our profits are reinvested in the conservation, sustainable management, and development of our territories." You can find more about their mission, vision and values here: https://www.sepaq.com/organisation/
I would love to explore, invest my time and money in discovering Ontario through a strong and proud network of parks where ontarians and politicians believe in the strength, beauty and importance of the natural network they are conserving and building.
(I know Ontario Parks exists and offers some of the services SÉPAQ does, but I think Ontario Parks needs a little uplift, hence my suggestion to get inspiration towards best practices with SÉPAQ).
With that being said, Ontario Parks should stay public and even be grown, not cut and sold, for all of us and our future generations.
