There is such high demand and such limited supply of public parkland in Ontario... We should be reserving more public parkland, not selling off what already exists.
Wasaga Beach is a special place, largely because the beach is totally public space. I fully support government assistance for development to reinvigorate the tourism industry that collapsed after the devastating fire, but that can easily be done in the existing footprint outside of the current park perimeter. Keep in mind that public, environmentally responsible parks draw tourists, especially if there is a strong service sector close-by... The two things can coexist comfortably as symbiotic neighbours.
I live in Clearview Township and I am a regular visitor to Wasaga Beach and many other Provincial Parks in Ontario... Which has become much more difficult as our population increases. Please don't force citizens of Ontario to seek adventure in other provinces (or nearby STATES) where access is easier. We will keep more tourism dollars inside Ontario if our parks are expanded to match the demand.
