Premier Doug Ford has demonstrated repeatedly that he cannot be trusted to do what is right for Ontario’s environment or communities. Time and again, his government has prioritized developer profits over public interest—whether through attempts to remove land from the Greenbelt or, as we see now, dismantling portions of a provincial park.
There is no reason to believe this is about sustainable tourism or responsible revitalization. It is about real estate development, plain and simple.
If the government truly wants to support tourism and local revitalization, it should invest in improving existing public facilities and infrastructure—not sell off the most valuable and irreplaceable natural spaces we have.
This proposal ignores what the public wants: clean, accessible, protected beaches that remain in public hands. Tourism thrives when we protect what makes a place special—not when we pave over it.
