As a concerned citizen and resident of Wasaga Beach, I strongly oppose the proposed legislative amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act, 2006 and the Historical Parks Act that would support the Town of Wasaga Beach’s Tourism Enhancement Proposal.
This proposal threatens the protection of one of Ontario’s most ecologically and culturally significant natural assets. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park is a designated protected area for good reason—it is home to unique dunes, endangered species, and a natural landscape that must be preserved for future generations. Removing or weakening protections to allow for expanded tourism development undermines the very purpose of our park system.
Economic development must not come at the cost of environmental destruction or privatization of public lands. I urge the government to prioritize long-term environmental stewardship over short-term economic gain. Keep Wasaga Beach protected. Do not pass these legislative changes.
