The mayor and town council insist that this transfer is an important step in making Wasaga Beach a four season destination. I have concerns about the impact on the environment of this proposal to the beaches and surrounding areas. In addition, Wasaga will only ever be a summer destination until the town adds infrastructure such as roads, shopping, entertainment (movie theatre, bowling alley, etc) to allow both residents and visitors something to do in the winter or on rainy days.
The town has grown exponentially over the last few years and yet the previous and new residents have no additional resources available to provide exercise and entertainment. The new developments have removed several areas where residents used to hike and we have lost much forest cover which is impacting the wildlife and residents in the area.
This plan is short sighted and ill conceived and needs to be revisited or scrapped.
