The sandy dunes of Wasaga…

The sandy dunes of Wasaga Beach are one of the few suitable habitats for the piping plover. As part of the Provincial Park, the nesting area of the plovers is protected, while still allowing bird lovers to watch the plovers on the beach.
If the Provincial Park designation is removed, the plovers will no longer have that regulatory protection. Conservation legislation has eroded in Ontario so that natural spaces outside provincial parks are no longer safe places for wildlife.
Wasaga Beach is already a popular and well-used tourist destination. Long stretches of beach and clean water with native plants and a variety of birds are a large part of the attraction.
As well as supporting tourism, these ecosystems support the health and well-being of all living creatures, including humans.
Space can be found for other activities outside the Provincial Park. Please keep these protected areas intact.
