It is very important that we maintain protected land as such, and not risk its development by giving it to local government. Especially considering there is endangered species on this land. The Piping plover produces half of its fledgling population in Wasaga beach, and has since 2007. So it is vital that we maintain their habitats by not risking the selling and development of this land. If this were to happen all of the conservation effort that has been put in to ensure the survival of this species would have been in vain.
