The provincial park should not be privatized as its a public regionally important shoreline, not just a parcel of land. Losing public control risks fragmentation of access to the resource that belongs to all Ontarians. Habitat and species will be at risk if development occurs. A well known example are the piping plover which are endangered. They nest in Beach areas which are proposed for development. Wasaga Beach draws over a million visitors annually because of the beach and provincial park. Development will reduce the town's draw and harm seasonal businesses which could shift revenue from small local owners to larger or single private owners. Accountability and transparency are protected under public management whereas in private management they are not.
